Elgin schools to reopen Monday

ELGIN, Ill. —  Three Elgin Area School District U-46 buildings will reopen tomorrow after being closed for possible bacteria.

Larkin High School in Elgin, Eastview Middle School in Bartlett, the Gifford Street Central Alternative Schools in Elgin and the Elgin School District U-46 central offices were evacuated Wednesday.

Samples showed three buildings had high levels of the bacteria that can cause Legionnaires’ disease.

The buildings have since been cleaned and disinfected and students will return to class on Monday.
