5 injured in Back of the Yards shooting near elementary school

CHICAGO — Five people were shot and wounded, three critically, in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.

Three men and two women were standing outside a store near 52nd and Morgan, across from Sherman Elementary School, when they heard the shots just before 8 p.m. Thursday.

A 27-year-old man was shot in the right and left shin and was transported to Stroger Hospital in stable condition.

A 29-year old man was shot in both legs and his back and transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

A 27-year-old woman was shot in the chest and taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital.

A 28-year-old woman was shot in the hand, foot and thigh and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

A 32-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the shoulder and was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition.

No one is in custody.

Police suspect it was gang-related.
