Worker seriously injured on construction barge on Chicago River

CHICAGO — A worker was seriously injured on a construction barge on the Chicago River this morning.

Chicago Fire Department units responded to the call at LaSalle Street and Wacker Drive about 8:45 a.m.

A new section of the Chicago River Walk is being built in that area.

The worker was placed in a stretcher basket and lifted by a crane to the street, where an ambulance took him to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
