NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The new diamond interchange opened in Naperville today in time for the morning commute.

The interchange at Illinois 59 and I-88 was chosen due to the high volume of traffic.

About 182,000 vehicles pass through every day.

The modern design is the first of its kind in the Chicago area.

It eliminates left turns by routing traffic in the opposite direction.

The design has been used in other parts of the country and cut the number of accidents in half in some areas.
