50 shot, 5 killed in weekend shootings across Chicago

CHICAGO -- It was an especially violent weekend on Chicago’s streets after 50 people were shot, five fatally.

One of the victims, 14-year-old Tyjuan Poindexter, was shot to death from a passing car Saturday night in Kenwood as he played basketball with a friend in the 1200 block of east 46th Street.

The biggest single shooting incident happened in Englewood when two groups of people traded gunfire early Sunday morning at 57th and LaSalle. A passing car was hit by the crossfire - one man died, 11 others were injured.

Most recently, 18-year-old Deionte Harris was shot and killed Sunday morning at 84th and Hermitage, after attending the St. Sabina Peace Basketball Tournament.
