BOSTON — More details on what happened to a 2-year-old Boston girl investigators dubbed “Baby Doe” are expected when two people charged in the case appear in court.

Thirty-five-year-old Michael McCarthy is charged with killing Bella Bond, the daughter of his live-in girlfriend. Bella’s mother, 40-year-old Rachelle Bond, is charged as an accessory after the fact. They were charged Friday after investigators got a tip in the 3-month-old case. They’re being arraigned Monday morning.

Millions of people viewed a composite image created from Bella’s remains after they were found washed up on a Boston-area beach June 25.

Bella’s biological father, Joseph Amoroso, said in media interviews over the weekend that Bond told him McCarthy killed their child because he believed she was possessed by demons.

Prosecutors and attorneys for McCarthy and Bond haven’t commented.
