CHICAGO --- The Cubs beat the Cardinals for the third time in their last four meetings, but not without ruffling a few feathers.

In the 5th inning, Dan Haren plunked Matt Holliday with a pitch to the back of the head.  Cubs' skipper Joe Maddon described it as "an absolute mistake."

The Cardinals fired back in the 7th with a bean ball of their own, throwing low and inside at Anthony Rizzo. Matt Belisle was tossed for the gesture along with his manager, Mike Matheny.

After the game, Maddon issued a warning to the Cubs' biggest rival: "We don't start stuff, but we will stop stuff."
