Man found dead in Morgan Park house explosion died from gunshot wound

CHICAGO — A man found dead in a Chicago home after it exploded died from a gunshot wound to the head.

The Cook County Medical Examiner announced the results Tuesday afternoon.

An early morning explosion on Monday blew out a front window of the home which is near 108th Place and South Morgan Street on the Far South Side.

The man was found in the rear of the home. He hasn’t been identified yet. His body was badly burned and further tests are pending.

Authorities continue to investigate the explosion and fire which they call “suspicious.”
