Some republican presidential candidates are rallying behind the Kentucky county clerk who has been jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples.
A judge found Kim Davis in contempt of court for refusing an order to issue the licenses.
Davis says it would go against her religious beliefs.
Her lawyers are appealing the judge’s ruling.
GOP presidential hopefuls Ted Cruz and Bobby Jindal say they support Davis.
Candidate Mike Huckabee compared Davis to people who fought against slavery when it was legal.
Huckabee says he plans to meet with Davis and hold a rally to support her.
