ST. CHARLES, Ill. — A seventh-grade boy died Wednesday morning after having an apparent seizure following a cross-country meet on Tuesday.

Cameron Pepera, 13, was new to cross-country. His dad Kevin Pepera told the Chicago Tribune he was enjoying his first year on the team.

Pepera said his son was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Blackhawks, and that he was very close with his 10-year-old sister.

“He adored his sister, and she adored him, and they were as close as anyone could be,” Pepera told the Tribune.

Pepra said that Cameron had suffered seizures in the past.

The cause of his death has not yet been determined.
