CHICAGO — Thousands of athletes gathered along Chicago's lakefront to compete in one of the largest triathlons in the world.
With more than 9,000 triathletes competing, the Transamerica Chicago Triathlon is the largest in the nation.
Swimmers jumped in at 6 a.m. for the international distance wave.
A post-race party at the finish line took place starting at 8 a.m. and was followed by an awards ceremony.
