BROOKFIELD, Ill. — The Brookfield Zoo is now home to two female snow leopard cubs.

The cubs, who weigh about 10 pounds each, were born at the zoo on June 16. They are currently in an off-exhibit den bonding with their 4-year-old mother Sarani. The cubs are scheduled to make their public debut in mid-October. They have not yet been named.

Snow leopards are listed as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature .

Brookfield Zoo has exhibited snow leopards since 1936.
