Cupich to wear pallium for first time Sunday
CHICAGO — A special mass will be held Sunday at Holy Name Cathedral.
Archbishop Blase Cupich will put on a pallium that was given to him by Pope Francis in Rome this past June.
Until now, the pope personally put the wool garments on new archbishops.
But, Pope Francis changed the tradition. He asked that they wear them for the first time back at their home cathedrals, so their parishioners could take part in the celebration.
Sunday’s service is at 2:15 p.m. at Holy Name Cathedral.
