Police-involved shooting injures man on South Side

CHICAGO -- A man was injured in a police-involved shooting on Chicago's South Side.

Officers were patrolling the West Englewood neighborhood around 7:30 p.m. Friday, when they saw a group of men in an alley in the 1600 block of West 71st Street.

They chased one of the men, after he ran away while holding his side.

Police say the man turned and pointed a gun at the officers, and one of them shot him.

The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The officers were not hurt.

A gun was recovered at the scene.
