CHICAGO - Traffic is crawling at the Jane Byrne Interchange this weekend.

It's all part of the Illinois Department of Transportation's project to install steel beams to support the deck of the new flyover bridge connecting the inbound Dan Ryan Expressway to the outbound Eisenhower Expressway.

So, starting last night, the inbound Congress Parkway and the outbound Eisenhower were closed at the Byrne interchange.

Tonight at 8:00 p.m., both directions of the Kennedy and the Dan Ryan between Ohio and 18th Streets will be down to one lane with all lanes closed for 15 minute intervals from 10:00 p.m. until 10:00 a.m. Sunday.

All lanes on Congress Parkway will reopen by 5:00 a.m. Monday.

Transportation officials are urging drivers to plan alternate routes.  The CTA has added extra rail service this weekend.
