CHICAGO — Walgreens is laying off 270 workers at its offices in the Chicago-area.

The job cuts are coming from the offices in downtown Chicago, and also Northbrook, Bannockburn, and Lincolnshire.

Another 100 jobs will be cut at Walgreens offices across the country.

No store workers will be affected.

The company says the move is part of a restructuring plan, as Walgreens merges with the Italian company “boots alliance.”

Walgreens will have 23,000 employees in Illinois after the cuts.

4,000 of those are in the Chicago area.
