Man snatching women’s necklaces on CTA trains: police

CHICAGO -- Chicago police are asking CTA riders to be more alert after a series of robberies in the past few weeks.

Police say a suspect is targeting female passengers who are wearing valuable necklaces. As the train approaches a stop, the suspect rips the necklace from the victims’ neck and runs out the doors.

The first reported incident was in the 800 block of W Harrison St on July 27 at 3:30 p.m. The second was in the 100 block of W Cermak Rd on Aug. 3rd at 7 a.m. And a third was in the 1200 block of N Milwaukee Ave on Aug 12th around 7 a.m.

The suspect is described as a bald black man in his 20s or 30s, 145-155 lbs.
