CHICAGO — A single mother of three in Chicago says she feels “extremely blessed” after winning $250,000 lottery prize.

“Because of this Lottery win, I can finally buy a home for my family,” said Marta Osorio, 59 in a statement. She won the money on a $250,000 Crossword instant ticket.

Osorio has lived in Illinois for 20 years working in a pastry factory. She had just finished grocery shopping when she realized that she forgot to buy eggs.

“It’s a good thing I forgot the eggs, because when I went back to the store, I bought my winning Crossword ticket!” she said.

Osorio’s plans to use some of the money for visiting extended family in Honduras, her native country. When asked what advice she would give other lottery players she said, “Keep playing. If it can happen to me, it can happen to you!”

The winning ticket was purchased at First Choice Market, 3019 East 91st Street in Chicago. The retailer received $2,500, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket. The $250,000 Crossword is a $10 instant ticket.
