SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Bulls fans are well aware of Michael Jordan’s achievements; No. 23 is widely considered the best basketball player ever — and maybe the best athlete in Chicago sports history. But he’s just revealed that he had a higher calling.
Speaking to a group of kids at his basketball camp in California, Jordan told fans what he would have wanted to do had he not been a basketball player.
“I went to college. I got my degree in coastal geography,” Jordan said. “Everybody wants to know: What’s coastal geography? Well, it’s an introduction to meteorology. I always wanted to be the weatherman. Don’t laugh. It’s funny, but that’s what I really wanted to do.”
Jordan is fourth all-time on the NBA’s leading scorers list, and he could potentially have some tough competition in the Chicago meteorology market. So it’s probably a good thing he stuck with basketball.
Still, though, you never know.
