CHICAGO — Police have charged a man with hitting a Chicago alderman during a dispute in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood.

Ald. David Moore, 17th Ward, was punched when he tried to break up a group of people. Moore went to the 7500 block of South Peoria at about 3 a.m. Sunday after getting a call about prostitutes gathered there.

Moore told the group he was an alderman and that they should disburse, but they didn’t believe him.

Police say Cordale Profit punched Moore in the arm. The 22-year-old is now charged with two felony counts of aggravated battery.

The Tribune has reported that she is a trans woman, so using man is incorrect and misleading; please update the gender in this article to reflect this (ie use “woman,” and “she,” not man or “he”).
