SAN DIEGO — A man fishing on Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach had a rare catch: a drone flying overhead.

Video from a camera mounted to the drone zoomed in on several people standing on the pier on Thursday.  A fisherman in particular appeared annoyed by the drone and can be seen casting his line toward the drone.

The drone attempted to move out of the way, but was hooked.  The pilot, Tice Ledbetter, was able to land the drone without damaging it.

He unraveled the line and posted the video to YouTube. The video was uploaded over the weekend and has already garnered more than 800,000 views.

The drone operator should be arrested for annoying people in public, posting a video with annoying music, and having an annoying name like Tice Ledbetter.

Flying a drone (UAS) without an FAA issued section 333 exemption and an FAA issued pilot license is a feloney under 49 USC §46317. Anyone that flies a drone without proper licensing (and insurance) should go to prison for three years, just like section 46317 says. We have laws on the books. We just have to use them and enforce them.
