People say they got burned even after applying the lotion according to directions on the bottle.

Pictures posted on social media sites, like Twitter, show severely burned skin.

A statement from The Honest Company was released in response to the claims.

In it the company stands by their product, saying that it meets standards set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Under the "Our Story" section of the brand's website, it claims to be "not only effective, but unquestionably safe."+

The so-called "Eco-friendly" brand was created by actress Jessica Alba in 2011.
