WASHINGTON -- New York Senator Chuck Schumer is enlisting the help of a famous relative to make the case for tougher gun laws.

The senator made an appearance with his cousin, actress Amy Schumer, to support a measure that would reward states that submit information to the federal background check system and penalize those that don't.

A gunman opened fire at a screening of Schumer's recent movie, "Trainwreck," last month in a Louisiana theater, killing two people.

The proposed legislation also advocates for mental health and substance abuse program funding.

Nice feel good story. What is she proposing? What are the new laws that she wants? You want any History on a persons mental health? You have HIPPA laws that stop that. You want criminal background checks? We already have them. We already have laws that outlaw, felons, anyone under 21 from having a handgun, under 18 a long arm. Yet we have gang members under 21 running around with hand guns and no CCP. Why? because we don’t enforce the laws we already have!
