EDMONTON, Canada -- She’s the kind of dog you just want to bear hug: Tonkey, the 4-month-old bear-coated Shar Pei, has taken to her big sister Maxi in their native Edmonton, and to thousands of fans around the world, online.

Who doesn’t blame the occasional catnap from a dog that’s stolen not only 40 winks, but countless hearts, with 200,000 followers on Instagram alone.

Tonkey’s owner says she was her first choice of the litter. But usually that type of coat is a bear to overcome as a show dog.

Luckily, Tonkey avoided the spotlight of the ring, and took on the greater audience of the Web.

Please don’t broadcast stories about this dog. It will just give puppy mills and back yard breeders another dog to try to mass produce and make money off of them
