Children taken to hospital after boating accident on Fox River

CARY, Ill. -- A boating accident sent three people to the hospital in the far northwest suburbs.

Witnesses say two boats were traveling in opposite directions on the Fox River in Cary Friday evening.

Two 12-year-old boys were tubing when the tube got wrapped around another boat. The boys went flying and landed on the other boat.

Both the boys and a woman on the boat they landed on were taken to the hospital.

One child is believed to have a broken leg.

The other child and the woman had minor injuries.

No citations were issued.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Marine Unit and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources are investigating.
