Suspect arrested in fatal Fourth of July shooting of 7-year-old boy

CHICAGO -- A suspect in the fatal shooting of a seven year-old boy in Chicago on the 4th of July is arrested in Wisconsin.

20 year-old Rasheed Martin is expected to face a judge there on Thursday as he awaits extradition to Chicago.

He is charged with killing Amari Brown in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. The boy was standing next to his father, Antonio Brown, who is believed to have been the intended target. Antonio is a reputed gang member with more than 40 previous arrests.

Martin was wanted in Wisconsin for retail theft. He was captured at a home in Superior near the Wisconsin-Minnesota border.
