CHICAGO -- 20 Chicago police officers are being sued over a chase that cost a 13-month-old boy his life.

Dillan Harris was in his stroller at 63rd and Ellis two weeks ago when police say shooting suspect Antoine Watkins tried to outrun several police cruisers, jumped a curb, and hit Dillan.

Watkins has been charged with the toddler’s death.

WGN obtained dramatic video of the immediate aftermath of the crash. The moments after the fatal hit and run were captured by a bystander who was also at the scene. In it, Dillan’s mother Shatrelle McComb cries as paramedics and firefighters arrive to try and help.

Attorney Tony Romanucci now represents McComb in a wrongful death lawsuit.

Police say he was driving a car with two other men inside and one of them had just shot and killed a Chicago man named Marvin Carr.

The suit names Watkins, the City of Chicago and as many as 20 police officers on duty and involved in the chase alleging “the infliction of emotional distress.”

Romanucci claims the pursuing officers went through four red lights and officers were ordered to stop the chase but did not.

Romanucci says he has asked the city to preserve the computer and audio recordings of the chase. He believes if all if this happened in a in an upscale neighborhood such as the Gold Coast the officers would have complied with the order to stop. He is demanding an apology from police superintendent Garry McCarthy.

Police are not commenting on the suit.

A call to the city law department has not been returned.

Police are still looking for the man who shot and killed Marvin Carr.

Apparently you all have issues with comprehension, because the “thug” is named in the lawsuit as well. Also, it’s quite unfortunate that the commenters have absolutely no sympathy for this mother, and only due to her skin color i.e. ghetto lottery #quitepathetic

I’m sorry this THING against the cops is getting out of hand…. i HAVE JUST THE ANSWER. HEY CPD, DON’T ANSWER THE CALL……Let the thugs rule the hood. That’s what they want, let them have it…. They condemn the CPD for saying that a guy had 45 arrest and was a know gang member, but because his child was killed, by ANOTHER GANG MEMBER the CPD was wrong….. NO AIN’T GOIN’ BUY IT….!!!!!!
You’re all afraid of the CPD, then clean your own house. Don’t bother calling 911 cause it seems they do everything wrong anyway.
