CHICAGO -- There's still time for a summer vacation before your kids head back to school. These three apps will help keep them occupied while you're traveling:

Drawing Pad
$1.99 for iOS and Android

I don't really like paid apps, so when I spend money on one, I have to really, really like it! And this app is worth the $2! Kids of all ages will enjoy creating their own art in this sleek app with photo-realistic crayons, markers, paint brushes, colored pencils, stickers and more. There are also coloring books to draw in (and of course, there are more available for purchase in the app.) Well, think of all the paper you'll save!

Stack the States
$1.99 for iOS and Android
Free lite version available for iOS

If your child is elementary school age, this is a great app for learning the 50 states. Children learn state capitals, shapes, geographic locations as they play this adorable animated game. To win each level, you have to build a stack of states that reaches the checkered line. I highly recommend the lite version -- only pay the $2 for the full version if you're kid really loves it!

Mad Libs
Free for iOS with optional in-app purchases

Introduce your kids to an old school road trip game with this beautiful new app. Use this app to fill out Mad Libs by typing, taking pictures or using photos from your device's photo gallery, and watch the comedy ensue. It even saves your story as a photo for recalling the fun after the trip has ended.
