Seen From Skycam: How a billboard rises above it all

Billboards: You see them every day on your commute, perched high in the air calling for your attention.

According to IDOT, there are more than 19,000 of what they call “permitted signs” along its routes in Illinois.  The first standardized billboard was established in the U.S. around 1900 and a since then, they’ve evolved from wood to vinyl to digital.

In today’s “Seen from Skycam,”   WGN’s Sarah Jindra takes a closer look at how they’re made and evolving.
