COLUMBIA, S.C. -Members of the Ku Klux Klan and the New Black Panthers were in South Carolina over the weekend.

The Loyal White Knights were protesting the removal of the Confederate Flag from state grounds. They are the largest, self-proclaimed Klan in the country.

One member was participating in the rally when he started feeling sick from the hot weather.

A picture taken at the event shows a black police officer leading the older man up the steps of the state house to a shaded area.

The New Black Panthers were also holding a scheduled rally in front of the state capitol.

Five people were arrested and 7 others received medical attention.

An estimated 2,000 people attended the events.

Police ended both rallies an hour early due to rising tensions.
