Chicago police shoot man beating another man with bat, police say

CHICAGO -- Chicago police shot a suspect who they say was beating another man with a baseball bat early this morning.

It happened at about 4 a.m. near the intersection of Clybourn and Halsted.

Officers patrolling the area reported a large fight in the middle of the street.

One man was using a bat to strike another man who was on the ground.

Officers told him to stop hitting the man, and when he refused, they shot him.

The man shot by officers and the person being beaten were taken to the hospital.

The incident remains under investigation.
