Investigation continues into deaths of mother, sons on South Side

CHICAGO --The investigation into the deaths of  a South Side mother and her three young sons continues after autopsies results provided little information.

Their bodies were found late Saturday night inside their home near 83rd and Drexel in the East Chatham neighborhood.

Relatives say Latoya Jackson and her sons- Andrew Simms, 11, Cameron Jackson, 9, and 5-year-old Cantrell, whose last name is not yet known.

They say all three of the boys were Jackson’s children.

Cook County officials say the cause and manner of death of Jackson are pending further investigation and the cause and manner of death of the children require additional tests.

Neighbors called police Saturday to report a bad smell coming from their home.

Police found their decomposing bodies in the home.

They say the inside of the home had been burned and there were signs of trauma to Jackson’s body.

The ATF and the state fire marshal are working with the Chicago police to investigate the crime scene.

So far no one is in custody.
