MILWAUKEE — A judge has sentenced an 18-year-old to 30 years in prison for a February hit-and-run crash that killed a Milwaukee couple who were a block from their home.
Defense attorneys argued Friday that as Michael Hobbs matures, he will better understand the consequences of stealing a Chevy Tahoe and causing the crash.
Judge Stephanie Rothstein agreed but said the best place for Hobbs to learn those lessons is behind bars.
Prosecutors say Hobbs was driving the SUV at a high rate of speed when he ran a stop sign and hit a car, killing 74-year-old Bernard Hanson and his 64-year-old wife, Mary. A third vehicle was also struck, injuring the driver.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Hobbs must serve 20 years of extended supervision after he’s released from prison.

Enough
Tough deal, Tough love……..he is 18 not 14 and should have known better…….30 a bit excessive but with the way these kids repeat offend……..could save other lives. I am guessing he had a bad attitude or lack or remorse causing the judge to see his soul……
