Police seek suspect in attempted North Side kidnapping

CHICAGO -- Police are searching for a man who tried to kidnap a girl on the city's North Side.

The attempted kidnapping occurred Monday morning on the 3000 block of North Francisco in the Avondale neighborhood.

Police say the man grabbed the girl and started to drag her toward a parked white van. Her friend grabbed her leg and began to yell. The man picked up the girl's belongings, got into the van and took off. He's described as Hispanic, and between the ages of 25 and 30 with light skin and dark, curly hair.

The van is described as a white work van with no side windows and a large dent on the front passenger side.
