Chicago police step up patrols at special needs school amid offensive graffiti

CHICAGO — Chicago police are stepping up patrols around a special needs school after someone spray painted slurs, swastikas and gang signs on Beard Elementary School in Norwood Park.

Detectives are hoping surveillance cameras recorded the culprit.

Police are also trying to determine whether the act was a hate crime.
