OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. -- A group of parents in Michigan are demanding that three siblings be released from a juvenile detention facility.
Judge Lisa Gorcyca sentenced them to the detention center for refusing to have lunch with their father. According to WJBK-TV, the kids were punished for not submitting to the judge’s demand that they foster a “healthy relationship” with their dad.
The oldest child, 15, told the judge he saw his father hit his mother, but Judge Gorcyca claimed he had been brainwashed.
The other children are 10 and 9 years old.
The judge ordered the children be held separately until they attempt to have a relationship with their father, or until they turn 18.
“It might be one day…it might be three years. It might be until you’re 18,” the judge said according to court transcripts.
They've been held for two weeks.
