NEW YORK – An audience member was attending a Broadway play when became part of the show.

It happened Friday during a performance of “Hand to God” at New York City’s Booth Theater.

A guy jumped on stage to plug in a cell phone charger to an outlet.

As it turns out, the outlet was only a prop and not operational.

Security guards were not far behind and returned the audience member to his seat.

A video of the whole thing was posted on YouTube by another audience member.

One of the performers was so surprised that they stopped the show to make an announcement on phone etiquette.

Marc Kudisch, an actor in the play, posted on Twitter about the situation saying, “Dear general audience, an electrical socket that’s a part of the set of the play is NOT for you to charge your iPhone…..just an FYI…..”
