ZIONSVILLE, Ind. -- Federal authorities raided the home of Subway spokesman Jared Fogle on Tuesday morning in connection with a child pornography investigation.

FBI sources told WXIN state and federal and state investigators served warrants at Fogle’s home in connection with the investigation.

The raid started around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. An evidence truck could be seen parked in the driveway.
Investigators from the FBI and Indiana State Police were also at the scene.

Earlier this year, Russell Taylor, the former director of the Jared Foundation started by Fogle, was arrested in a child pornography case. He was accused of possessing and producing child pornography.

Investigators said a search of Taylor’s home turned up more than 500 videos with images of child pornography. In May, Taylor unsuccessfully tried to kill himself while in jail.

Fogle said the foundation severed all ties with Taylor following the arrest. Investigators wouldn’t say if Tuesday’s raid was connected to that case.

Fogle gained national fame after attributing massive weight loss to eating Subway sandwiches. He was a freshman at Indiana University at the time. He later became a visible presence in Subway ad campaigns, pitching the restaurant’s sandwiches and touting their health benefits.

Subway released the following statement Tuesday:

"We are shocked about the news and believe it is related to a prior investigation of a former Jared Foundation employee. We are very concerned and will be monitoring the situation closely. We don't have any more details at this point."

The recent history of federal authorities suggests otherwise. And in fact the point of a raid is to ACQUIRE evidence. If they already had all they needed they would simply arrest him.

Have evidence for what? You mean a judge signed off on there being probable cause for a search? That’s not evidence at all, in fact, in the last decade, an FBI raid points to abuse of power more than any crime being committed.

What you stated is fairly libelous. I really hope someday there is a landmark case where a victim of the police, and subsequent trial in the media, serves every last defamatory comment on the internet with a lawsuit. Nothing against you personally, just the mentality so often exhibited by the public. Constructive dialogue never involves getting the pitchforks no matter how heinous the alleged crime.

Umm Jump to conclusions??? They already have 500 videos and pictures. He’s already in jail. There’s no other conclusion to jump to except sentencing. They are more than likely looking for any connection between him and actual minors he was in contact with.

You might want to go back and read the article again. The evidence you just mentioned is what they found in Russell Taylor’s home. They haven’t released any information about this particular search.

“they have brought in two cases of bottled water”… Yes, it is of utter importance that you stay well hydrated during a kiddie porn raid!

no one read the article I see… Russel taylor is not jared fogle. The feds just raided jared’s house because he was related to russel taylor. It was russel taylor who had the child porn. I wonder if jared can sue anyone over this.. The news/feds just ruined his career and life because of this news only because he knew a guy who had child porn.

This has to be the worst article I have ever read, not even a trace of investigative reporting just an alleged hunch that Jared may be involved because he knew and severed ties with this Russel Taylor person. Its reporting like this that can end the careers and in some cases even lives of innocent until prove guilty people, shame on WGN for letting this POS article get past the editing desk!

” Federal authorities raided the home of Subway spokesman Jared Fogle on Tuesday morning in connection with a child pornography investigation.”
    or
“Investigators wouldn’t say if Tuesday’s raid was connected to that case.”
Both statements appear in the same story

Very misleading article and journalists need to be more professional about this. Jared isnt guilty of this yet. The Feds are only trying to see if he has any connection to it because of ties to a former employee. Until they find evidence, there is no proof.

As the old saying goes, innocent until proven guilty.

Ok so the Feds have raided his house . If you read the article it could be in connection with an ongoing investigation into this taylor guy who was caught possessing and here’s the most heinous part, MANUFACTURING! child pornography. Now for some of you who have never committed a crime the feds or even regular police only need reasonable suspicion to get a warrant to raid someone’s house. The feds however they do everything by a grand jury so that is a federal prosecutor talking 12 people into issuing a warrant. then the investigation goes from there. And to you Jerry Kopp you are jumping to conclusions, you obviously don’t know how the system works

the thing that’s most bothersome to me about all this is that Russell Taylor was supposedly a close personal friend of Jared, so much so that Jared entrusted him as the CEO of his foundation. a foundation for children mind you. so we’re left with an either or, either Jared is the absolute worst judge of character when it comes to his close friends (which should therefore speak volumes about his own character), or, Jared was complicit and was given some time to clear his files from the day his buddy was taken to prison.
