Three injured after taxi collides with cars

CHICAGO - Three people were trapped in a taxi after a three car collision downtown. Police say around 11 p.m. on Saturday, a car ran a red light on Wacker and Madison and then plowed into a taxi.  A pick-up truck hit the taxi, causing it to roll over and trap the driver and two passengers.  Bystanders helped the passengers out of the rolled over vehicle.  The victims were taken to Stroger Hospital and Northwestern with serious injuries.

    And this is why you need to ride with a legal taxi so you know your car and driver are fully insured and licensed. For your own protection if you ride in an illegal taxi and their personal insurance denies their coverage and the app company denies responsibility, you can be left holding the costs of medical bills and funeral expenses. Many Uber, Lyft and app driven drivers are illegal, uninsured, unlicensed and without finger printed FBI/Homeland Security background checks. Yes, you might save a little money since they fly under the radar as illegal cabs and don’t have to pay the insurance, fees, medallion’s, etc. But if a disaster happens, you and your loved ones are fully covered.
