Sesame Street’s Maria, Sonia Manzano, retiring after 44 years

After 44-years, Sesame Street’s Maria is retiring.

Actress Sonia Manzano first joined the cast of the PBS show in 1971.

She has won 15 Emmys for her writing on Sesame Street.

Manzano is keeping busy in retirement.

She has a new book, "Becoming Maria: Love and Chaos in the South Bronx."

She's also popular on social media, thanking fans of all ages for their support.
