OCEAN COUNTY, N.J. -- There's a dangerous new trend in cell phone fashion -- phone cases that look like guns.

Officials are warning the public not to buy them, since they could easily be mistaken for a real gun by police officers.

A Prosecutor’s office in New Jersey said the cases are “not a cool product or a good idea.”

Ocean County Prosecutor’s office spokesperson Al Della Fave said to there have been no incidents due to the cases yet.

"Most kids carry their cellphones in their back pocket, and if they were to reach back for it, to pull it out to make a call, it’s the same motion as someone pulling a concealed weapon," Fave said.
