California woman with amnesia identified by sister

CARLSBAD, Calif.  — The identity of a woman who was found in California with no memory of who she is has been solved.

KNSD-TV reports 53-year-old Ashley Menatta is the woman who showed up at a San Diego-area ER without any idea of her name, age or family.

Ashley has sisters in Colorado and Maryland. She was born in Pennsylvania, lived in Flagstaff, Arizona and several years ago found her way to Southern California living in La Jolla, Vista, and Carlsbad, KNSD-TV  reports.

Her story went viral and captured the attention of people world wide thanks to social media posts.

While attempting to find out her identity, Ashley was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and amnesia.
