CHICAGO — Downers Grove native Chase Knapp, 33, has been having an eventful month.

The excitement over the Stanley Cup victory was still fresh for Blackhawks fan Knapp when he went out to run wedding errands for his fiancé. Deciding to test his luck, he purchased lottery tickets from three different area retailers. And the third one was the charm. Knapp scratched the final 50X the Cash lotto ticket to find he had won the $2 million top prize.

“Thanks to running wedding errands for my fiancé, I won a huge lottery prize!” he said when presenting his winning ticket at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Chicago.

He plans to invest most of his new-found fortune and use a portion to pay for his upcoming wedding in the fall.

To his fellow lottery players, Knapp says, “Don’t give up!”

The ticket was purchased at Villa Park Mobil, 1 East St. Charles Rd. in Villa Park. The retailer will receive a hefty $20,000 –1 percent of the prize amount– as a bonus.
