CHICAGO -- One of the more emotional moments of Thursday’s Blackhawks celebration came when the team honored the son of their late equipment manager.

34-year-old Assistant Equipment Manager Clint Reif was found dead in his home earlier this season having taken his own life.

The relationship between NHL players and the staff who care for their skates, sticks and other tools of the trade is perhaps the closest of any group of athletes and support personnel.

During the rally, Blackhawk Kris Versteeg brought Clint’s son CJ to the podium.

Several players also helped CJ hold the Cup.
