Engine catches fire on Metra BNSF train in Clarendon Hills

CLARENDON HILLS — Service had to be halted for a while on Metra’s Burlington Northern Santa Fe line today when a fire started in a train engine.

It happened in west suburban Clarendon Hills during morning rush hour.

The fire was put out, and the passengers boarded another train.

No one was injured.

Delays of about half an hour were reported when the tracks reopened.
