* The Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs are squaring off for the first time since 2009. The clubs have split their only 14 meetings all-time.

* Kris Bryant has been able to stay patient at the plate, working an 0-2 count to a 3-2 count an MLB-best 16 times this season.

* Jake Arrieta has struck out at least five batters in each of his last 15 starts dating back to 2014, tied with Cole Hamels for the second-longest active streak in MLB, but bit behind Clayton Kershaw’s 36 straight.

* Indians’ pitchers are generating swings and misses on over a quarter of their opponents’ swings (25.9%)– the highest rate in MLB.
