CHICAGO — A South Shore neighborhood man was charged Sunday in a May shooting that killed one teen and wounded another, police said in a statement.

Arieus Fitch, 20, of the 6900 block of South Paxton Avenue, was charged with first-degree murder in a May 24 shooting that killed 15-year-old Raheem Dameron, police said. A 14-year-old was also wounded, not fatally, in the shooting.

Dameron and the other teen were walking in an alley that day near 45th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue when shots were fired from a passing sedan. Dameron was shot multiple times in the back and pronounced dead at the scene. The 14-year-old was struck in the ankle and taken to the hospital.

Fitch was identified as the shooter and charged accordingly, police said. He is due in bond court Sunday, according to the police statement.
