U.S. may send 500 more troops to Iraq

JERUSALEM (AP) — The Obama administration could announce today that it’ll be sending up to 500 additional U.S. troops to Iraq to train security forces.

The U.S. is trying to get Sunnis more deeply involved in the war against the Islamic State group.

Right now there are fewer than 3,100 U.S. troops in Iraq, including trainers, advisers, security and other logistical personnel.
