ST. CHARLES, Ill. -- The father of a prisoner who escaped from a juvenile detention center in St. Charles tells WGN his son is not dangerous and likely is running because he's scared.
Denzell Walker, 19, escaped from the medium security facility in the 3800 block of Campton Hills Road at about 10 p.m. Monday.
He is described as African-American, 5-foot-11, approximately 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes wearing a blue jumpsuit.
He was in custody following a parole violation for pending burglary charges.
Authorities say the public should exercise caution and contact law enforcement immediately with any information.
The details of the escape are still under investigation.
Don't take it personal
My question is: why is a 19 year old being detained in the St. Charles Youth Center?
