Humboldt Park man charged with murder in Lakeview shooting

Police say Kristopher Pitts, 22, of the 1100 block of N. Central Park Ave., has been charged with first degree murder.

CHICAGO — A Humboldt Park man has been charged in a Lakeview shooting that left a man in his 20s dead, police said Saturday.

Police say Kristopher Pitts, 22, of the 1100 block of N. Central Park Ave., has been charged with first degree murder.

Police said earlier Saturday the shooting occurred around 2:00 a.m., as the bars were closing. They believe the shooting may have started as a robbery.

The body of the victim was found underneath the “L” at Sheffield and Oakdale. A medical examiner identified the deceased as 25-year-old Kevin O’Malley.

Police shut down two “L” stops as they searched for suspects.

The “L” stops were later reopened.
